Head of service area kindergarden has the overall responsibility for children's daycare in Gjesdal municipality.
These include:

- Budget responsible for the service area 
- Personnel responsible for controllers, consultants, coaches and special pedagogues
- Audit authority for the existing kindergardens
- Approval authority in relation to new kindergardens
- HSE Manager
- Children's representative in building cases
