Self-preparedness in case of emergency
Emergency Kit.
DSB
Norway is generally a safe country where most services work well. However, climate change, war, digital threats and other changes in the world increase the risk of unexpected events. We must therefore be prepared for situations such as pandemics, extreme weather, accidents or other serious crises. Self-preparedness means being ready to manage without normal services for a period of time. For example, a power outage may affect water, heating, internet, mobile phones, payment systems and cooking facilities.
Self-preparedness for one week
Norwegian authorities recommend that as many people as possible are prepared to manage for one week. This allows authorities to prioritise people who cannot cope without help during a crisis. You do not need to prepare everything at once- some preparation is much better than none. Think about what you and your household would need if the electricity or water supply stopped, or if you were unable to shop for several days. Family members, friends and neighbours can also help each other prepare.
